- Ingot Machine Upgrades
Here I was working with people from ODT, CSIRO and RTA PTC in Australia to install and test new casting technology including a redesigned casting wheel and ingot moulds. I worked with maintenance to schedule downtime, organise installation and conduct tests to quantify casting speed improvements.

- Co-creation of Metal Scheduling Software.
This involved developing a deep understanding of the metal scheduling process in a pull casting / tapping environment. This was accomplished by working with the metal schedulers and as an operator for two months. Using what I had learned I determined the right mix of functionality and user interface to maximise usability and scheduling efficiency. These were presented as concept drawings.

- Production vs Maintenance Visualization
Here I developed a macro enabled spreadsheet that took in the production schedule and provided easy methods of input for the maintenance schedule. With this information it highlighted where hard alloy changes were occurring and whether or not the planned maintenance / production combination was likely to cause unnecessary delays.

Designed a Laboratory Experiment for the paper Chemmat 412 Process Dynamics and Control. This involved:
- Teaching myself the course material for Chemmat 412.
- Becoming familiar with the Quanser Cascading Tanks and Matlab with Simulink.
- Designing an experiment that showed Zeigler-Nichols closed loop tuning.
- Writing and troubleshooting the procedure.

At Latham Construction I worked as a laborer to fulfill the practical work requirements of my degree. This was a great opportunity to see how a construction company worked and learn the true meaning of a hard days work.
