Chris Jenkins

I was trained as a Forester (Bachelor of Forestry Science) and spent several years working in environmental forestry in the former NZ Forest Service. I worked in many areas including South Canterbury, Seaward Kaikoura Range, the Tararua and Rimutaka Ranges, Napier and Palmerston North. When the Department of Conservation (DOC) was established I worked in a variety of supervisor and management roles and was based in Rotorua.

I was appointed Conservator Bay of Plenty in 1997 (the Conservator role is a regional management position responsible for all of the Departments work in a large geographic area).

I was appointed Conservator Northland in late 2003 after a year seconded to lead the initial stages of the science based natural heritage prioritisation project - the Natural Heritage Management System.
