Experienced and capable communications professional. Successfully managed communications functions in large organisations in the public and private sectors and has substantial consultancy experience at a senior level.
Communications manager roles: Ministry of Energy, Wellington Area Health Board, National Bank Group Ltd, Ministry of Women’s Affairs (part time, in conjunction with consultancy business).
Contract communications manager roles (full and part-time, some in conjunction with consultancy): Greater Wellington Regional Council; Central Regional Health Authority, Capital Coast Health, Te Papa, Local Government New Zealand.
Publishing and editing: Managing Editor of the New Zealand Government Directory for nine years, and a wide range of other publishing experience from business publishing in London, to review and selection of print and publications services for clients.
Political communications: Press secretary for senior Ministers in National and Labour governments; government relations work in consultancy.
Media management: Early experience as a journalist and significant experience undertaking media liaison in highly demanding environments (e.g. the health roles) and managing others to provide media liaison.
Communications consultancy: Substantial of full- and part-time consultancy for Network Communications (eight years) and for Scotts Communications (15+ years). Particularly experienced in review and design of communications functions and programme and in communications strategy and planning. Work examples and referees can be provided from the past 5+ years to illustrate skill areas and experience.
